Making progress in ICT; if someone asked you….?

If someone asked you one of these questions, what would you say? If you are not in a position to answer the question very effectively, what might you do to make progress over the next week or two?

  • How can the ‘communications’ bit of ICT help teaching and learning in history (for teachers and pupils)?
  • How might wordprocessing/CD-roms/the internet/powerpoint/databases/desktop publishing be used to improve teaching and learning in history?
  • What possible disadvantages are there in using computers which history teachers should be aware of?
  • How can ICT be used to help SEN pupils, including those who are very able?
  • To what extent do you feel you possess the technological capability to make use of ICT in your teaching?
  • Can you give an example of something that worked well using computers in history?
  • How good are you at searching the internet?
  • How effectively do you use ICT to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of your planning, assessment and record keeping and reporting?
  • How aware are you of recent developments in history and ICT?
  • Have you used ICT at all with real live children?
  • What progress have you made in your use and understanding of history and ICT since the start of the your placement?

You can probably think of other questions which might be posed. Given that ICT is an FAQ (frequently asked question) at interviews, it can be helpful to give some thought to questions such as these.
