The Reichstag Fire

The trial question is ‘Are the Nazis guilty of starting the fire?’

Two pupils act as lawyers for the defence and prosecution. Ten students act as witnesses. There are 4 witnesses for the prosecution: Shirer, Halder, Koestler and Rauschning. There are 6 witnesses for the defence: Lubbe, Roth, Sack, Wingurth, Hayes, Delmer. The prosecution goes first. One by one, it calls its 4 witnesses. The defence goes next. One by one, it calls its 6 witnesses.

After all the witnesses have given their evidence, the two lawyers give their summaries and appeal to the jury. The jury, meet, discuss and vote.
